Quest Academy Opens New Space for Early Childhood Education

Quest Academy’s youngest students, the 3-year-old Preschool Otters and the 4-year old PreKindergarten Koalas, moved into their newly renovated classroom spaces bringing them much closer to the school's main building. Quest celebrated this move-in with parents, teachers, and the children on Friday, October 5 at an open house.
The new indoor environment features a spacious early childhood commons area, which has already had a positive impact. “With the commons, we can now engage in a variety of differentiated learning experiences, especially with small groups of students,” said Mr. Jeff Oremland, Quest’s Preschool lead teacher. “It’s a bright, pleasant area for us to work with a few students at a time, separate from all the action in classroom.”
The commons is also helping strengthen Quest’s early childhood community, by providing opportunities for families to connect. “Already we’ve seen parents spending more time chatting, making play dates, and catching up with each other,” Oremland said.
Both Mr. Oremland, and PreKindergarten lead teacher, Mrs. Cindy Reiss worked with the architect and Quest Academy administration to design the new classrooms with the best interests of the children in mind and so that teaching and learning would be maximized. According to Mrs. Reiss, a 13 year veteran of Quest Academy, “The children will benefit immediately from the opportunity we had to design and create the most intentional and flexible use of space for individual, small group, and whole class explorations.”
