After-School Program Staff Position

Quest Academy, a private school for academically gifted children in Palatine, is seeking experienced staff to work in the Extended Day Program. The hours are 3:00 - 6:00 pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and 2:30 - 6:00 pm on Wednesday. There are opportunities to work with children in PreK-K, first-third, and fourth-eighth grade. The program begins on Wednesday, August 24. Salary starts at $10.00/hr and increases with experience. All applicants must be First Aid and CPR certified (or show enrollment in certification class).

Job Summary
The Quest Extended Day Program staff are responsible for the well-being and supervision of preschool and elementary age children. We provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children can enjoy both free play and planned activities.

Essential Functions
Monitor student daily attendance.
Set-up and clean-up program in cafeteria on a daily basis.
Help plan, prepare and implement daily snacks and activities for children.
Supervise recreational and snack periods.
Attend the three full-day programs offered during the academic year.
Other duties as assigned by the Extended Day Program Director.

Substitutes must have a Bachelor’s Degree and be an experienced teacher.

Early Primary Assistant Teacher

Quest Academy is seeking an innovative, student-centered, and collaborative teacher to join our early primary classroom as an assistant teacher beginning immediately.

Quest Academy seeks gifted educators who not only offer challenging and rigorous curricula but who also understand the importance of providing nurturing guidance through modeling and through the development of essential teacher-student relationships. Quest teachers know their students, understand their students, and see students as individual thinkers and human beings.

At Quest, teachers place students at the center of their own learning, to facilitate engaging hands-on and interdisciplinary learning experiences, and to have a deep understanding of child development, especially as it pertains to gifted learners. Quest also seeks to hire educators who possess a passion for service, equity, and social justice and who desire to grow personally and professionally in the field of education.

The primary duty of the Assistant Teacher include the following:

  • Reinforce lessons by working with individual students or with small groups of students
  • Help the teacher maintain order in the classroom
  • Accompany students to the cafeteria or specials classrooms
  • Take care of bulletin boards, copying, organizational tasks, etc. as requested
  • Substitute for a teacher who may be absent from the building
  • Help organize and attend field trips as needed
