Thoughts from alumni...

"Quest has a wonderful curriculum that includes a variety of fine arts courses in addition to the advanced academics. Taking classes across a variety of disciplines taught me how to focus my energies in different arenas, and helped me learn how to organize my time efficiently

NFORMANCE WEEK is a way to get a taste of what your child is doing in the classroom. Unlike a performance that focuses on the final product, an INFORMANCE focuses on the process.

The Drama and Music teachers at Quest believe the process is where real learning takes place, where creativity is discovered and where making mistakes encourages growth, perseverance and risk-taking!

We hope you attend INFORMANCE WEEK and see part of the process at work. All you have to do is respond to this email by filling out the Google Form, click the button below. The instructions on the form will explain what to do. If you have more than one child, you can decide which classes to attend.

YOU MUST RSVP TO ATTEND- we are planning ahead to have name tags ready for you at the front desk.

Cold and Snowy Days

Please make sure your send warm outerwear (including snow pants, boots, gloves, hats) for your children during these cold and snowy days. Quest's policy states: "Recess and PE are important components of a child's day. Parents are directed to keep children home for the day if they are too sick to participate in recess or PE. If, however, the student has a physician's note stating that due to certain conditions (broken bones, walking pneumonia, etc.) the student must refrain from physical activities for a length of time, he/she will be excused. Excused students will observe or assist the P.E. teachers with the class. The outdoor recess policy is that all classes go outside if the wind chill is 0 or above. Anything below 0 will call for indoor recess."

Emergency Closing Policy

Under extreme weather conditions or general emergency, the Head of School may decide to close school for the day. He may consult with various individuals and contact Palatine District 15, but the Head of School will make the final decision. Family, student, and staff safety is the primary consideration in closure decisions. If District 15 closes school because of heavy snowfall causing unfavorable or dangerous road conditions, Quest Academy will also close. However, if District 15 closes because of extremely cold temperatures, the reason to close is often because many students use bus transportation, which might be unsafe. Since Quest Academy students are transported by car, Quest will not close for cold temperatures only. When Quest Academy remains open, all parents are expected to make their own decision if they feel safe transporting their children to and from school, and act accordingly. A decision to close school will normally be made by 5:30 a.m. of the emergency day. All families and staff will receive an automatically recorded emergency message notifying them of the closure.

Quest Academy has instructional hours far exceeding the required hours set by the State of Illinois. Therefore, adding additional days to the calendar as "make-up" days after a closure is not necessary and Quest will only consider adding back days if the number of closure days exceeds four.

Severe Weather and Emergency Notifications

Occasionally, inclement weather necessitates a "snow day" or we may need to cancel after school events. Quest uses an automated calling system to contact Quest families with updates concerning late start, closures, and cancellations. This automated process contacts people by phone, text, and email depending on the situation and the urgency of the communication. Please notify Quest immediately when there are changes to family contact information.

Lunch Policy for weather-related closed days

The policy of Gourmet Gorilla lunch delivery is as follows: "Due to nature of notification with snow days, we are unable to provide parents with credits due to weather related closures. This is the same policy that we enforce with sick days or absences, we do need at least 48 hours notice in order to credit."

Faculty Google Certification

Congratulations to our technology teacher Mr. Garcia for passing his #Google certification exam. We now have 12 educators who have passed their Google Level 1 Certification.

Congratulations to Krishna!

Krishna D. participates in the United States Equestrian Federation's (USEF) Equestrian Athlete Lettering program. This program was developed to provide recognition for the accomplishments of young equestrians and encourage their future involvement in equestrian sport.

USEF recognizes the dedication of equestrians preparing for competition through practice and training sessions as similar to other students in athletic programs and developed this program to honor individual achievements with a varsity letter in the student's chosen sport, regardless of the availability of an equestrian team or club through their school.
